A recent report from Kno Software says that 25 percent of college students would prefer to give up sex rather than lug around their textbooks for a semester. Of course, giving up sex will cut down on your chances of contracting an STD, no one really has to go to that length to save your aching back and shoulders from the weight of heavy books.
Instead, just grab a Kindle for a mere $114, and rent its textbooks via Amazon's new textbook rental program. Not only is renting your textbooks good for the planet (especially when in hardback form), but also you can save a ton of dough by renting rather than buying for life. Plus, you can still take notes and highlight passages digitally within the Kindle, but, of course, it won't be quite the same as dog-earring pages and highlighting your textbook like you have previously.
